Kretov Nikolai Nikolaevich: Life in the "cloud"
Technology is advancing and now we have been offered a new way to interact with software - cloud services. The essence of the technology is that the software becomes one of the services of the Web. This approach has both positive and negative sides. Let's consider them in more detail.
Let's start with the positives. The main positive side is the reduction of requirements for the hardware component of the computer and independence from the operating system. Unfortunately, this is where the positives end.
The disadvantages of this approach are, firstly, the need to connect all employees to the network and, as a result, the installation of a separate computer as a proxy server to filter unwanted traffic (if it is not already installed) or parental control systems (hello, insanity in names) if we we deal with single systems or small working groups. In addition, as often happens in cases of transition to new technologies, it will be necessary to engage in education among employees, and as practice shows, innovation is overwhelmingly perceived with hostility. Also, one should not forget that most of the "cloud" services are located on servers that provide other services, such as e-mail. An example of such a service is the Google Documents login, which is unified with the login to the Gmail mail service. Thus, if the password is stolen by a trojan or intruders, it will gain access not only to e-mail, but also to the user's documents, which may well contain confidential information or trade secrets.
So what do we have in the bottom line? The "cloud" technology is quite capable of making life easier for ordinary users in the future, today it is more of a headache for network administrators, since with the introduction of the use of "cloud" technologies in organizations, it is likely to add a headache due to users who do not able to independently master this technology.
